It feels like there'd be a genuine draw for customers if a business had some sort of "No Phone Call Required" badge on their listing/website. Hell, if you have to ask other questions, give a few non calling options - SMS or Signal or WhatsApp or Facebook Messenger or iMessage or email. But seriously, if I saw a small business with a "No Phone Call Required" badge, they'd instantly move to the top of my list.

I'll make the URL unclickable so someone has to copy paste it if they want to see it. Surround it with backticks if your software supports markdown. Put a space in the URL. If you want as close to an A/B test in misogyny in industry as you can get, talk to trans women. Legit the same exact person before and after, and many many of us watch our careers stall out. I've seen my raises and bonuses halt entirely for the last 5 years while team members get raises and bonuses. I had a great grand boss directly interfering with my work and bashing my communication styles when I asked many of my colleagues and they said they saw nothing different in how I communicated than a great many of my men colleagues. Now I daily consider how much longer I'll make it in tech. @baldur@toot.cafe

My one big piece of advice to anyone entering tech:

Don't get used to tech company salaries.
Don't get mortgages and car payments that you can only afford with tech company salaries.
Build as much emergency funds as you possibly can with tech company salaries.
Fully expect that you'll get laid off the exact same time the entire rest of the industry stops hiring people, and it may be a couple years before hiring starts back up again.

Sure, you may think those 6 figure salaries means you're living on easy street, but when it comes with only working 8 out of every 10 years, those numbers aren't near as good.
